Hotel Motel Taieri

The hotel motel doesn't look too flash from the outside, but the unit we stayed in was great. Very quiet, and clean and well equipped. Reception and cleaning staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

The room itself was mostly good - clean and warm, with good shower facilities. But there were enough niggles to make us annoyed: crt tv, two lights not working, no shampoo sachets, and loud noise from the freezer-units of the neighbouring liquorland (the nearby trains didn't help.) ..finding reception was tricky - same experience as r bercic there, except i had rain. Reception should definitely be better signposted. Not entirely bad - the staff were all very helpful, and eating facilities were right there - but not recommended if you're a light sleeper. I'd stay there again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. .

Cheap unit (10), clean and functional. Nice bathroom - needed a shelf for clothing, etc. Kitchen facilities were good - more cutlery and crockery were needed, especially for family of 5. The washing machine was handy - a clothes dryer would have been ideal. Linen replacement was not a problem though. Check-in was diabolical. Signage was poor. Twice we drove around busy intersection and liquorland drive-through trying to find hotel/motel reception then asked at the restaurant and were told to go into liquorland to pick-up key. Noise factor was okay but the trucks parked in the carpark next door were noisy at 4am in the morning. The sky remote didn't work. Had to change channels on the sky box. Every dining chair seat pad lifted off the chair requiring gluing. No phone in unit despite signage referring to dialling reception, etc. Randoms kept dumping their alcohol bottles in the unit's recycling bin. This is okay accommodation if you're not too particular. Not for us.
